<image:title>About - A bit about the vibe.</image:title>
<image:caption>It makes sense that therapy can be a little scary. And if it’s your first time, it’s hard to know what you’re getting yourself into. Almost everyone feels a little nervous at first. I believe my “therapist super power” is helping you feel comfortable. You'll see that I'm just a quirky mental health nerd who's there to learn about you, offer support, and listen with zero judgment. I’ll also challenge you at times— we need validation, and I believe we also benefit from a gentle accountabili-buddy. When we meet, you can nourish your body, brb to use the bathroom, and dress as you please; I’ll do the same. It’s important to honor our bodies’ needs and they don’t always operate on a predictable schedule. Let’s keep it real. My style is casual, warm, and transparent. We will laugh lots, I’ll ask lots of questions, and you’ll be free to feel lots of feelings (which is a good thing). In between, I’ll reassure you that your feelings make sense for one reason or another, even if it isn’t super obvious to you at first. I hope to make a space where you feel like someone gets you. You’ll learn tools and how to be kinder to yourself, and in a really cool way, you’ll get to know yourself more.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Here’s my stuff, I’d love to learn about yours :)</image:title>
<image:caption>In my teens and 20’s, I struggled as much as the next girl with the things I specialize in now. My body type didn’t fit the mold for what I saw around me and in the 2000’s. The pressure to make my body something it wasn’t is something I knew well. So I really do get it. Through personal work and learning, it got better. It can get better for you, too. On a human level, I’m 49% extrovert with a love of terrible-but-enthusiastic dancing, karaoke, and wine-tasting. The other is 51% introvert who digs a good Netflix binge, playing with makeup, moody music (think T-Swift’s Folklore album), and snuggling my dog, Ellie. She’s my bestie, and will often be in frame during our virtual sessions… hope you like dogs :) With many years of experience in the mental health field, I’m in the loop with current treatment approaches and recognize the struggle for women and girls of the younger generation. I graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Psychology. From there, I worked in Community Mental Health as a counselor and Designated Crisis Responder (DCR). Years later I made the bold trek to "the big city" to work in a group private practice, where I honed my craft helping young women and teen girls with anxiety, body-image/disordered eating, and self-esteem/self-worth. Now I’m here, still on a mission to help others through my independent practice. In early 2025, I returned back to Spokane, WA to plant some roots with my heck-of-a teammate, Kevin. I am Queer Affirming and LGBTQIA+ informed. Importantly, I work from a Health at Every Size (HAES), Feminist and Anti-Oppression perspective. As an eternal advocate for inclusion and equality, I promise to continue learning how I can show up best for you and our work together.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialties - Body Image & Disordered Eating.</image:title>
<image:caption>You might see all the things you don’t like about your body and pick yourself apart, like, a lot. Your relationship status with food? “It’s Complicated.” Have you ever met a person who is completely okay with their body? It’s rare, and that’s sad. We aren’t born hating our bodies, we’re taught to do that. Social media influences, diet culture, and negativity toward bodies that don’t fit whatever is the current ideal are everywhere. We’re taught our value lies in our exterior, which TBH, is the least interesting part about us. We learn that we should control food, which often ends up controlling us. It becomes a frustrating emotional roller coaster. You’re here reading this, so you’re probably ready to get off of that roller coaster. I can help. You’ll learn about how all of this body-hate came about, and who’s really benefiting from it. We will explore your specific relationship with food and your body, and how to begin healing it through Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating approaches. In the words of Sonya Renee Taylor, “The Body is Not an Apology.” You might be thinking, “But Abby, it’s been this way forever… it’s like, deep.” Yep, I’ve been there, and you’re right. This journey takes time and patience, but I promise, it can be done. And I’ll be right by your side along the way.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialties - Anxiety & Panic Attacks.</image:title>
<image:caption>You’re overwhelmed, worried, restless. You’re always thinking about what’ll go wrong. There’s no way you can handle it all, and sometimes, ya just lose it. Anxiety is super uncomfortable, and panic can be way scary when we don’t know what’s happening. It’s common to learn to avoid things that bring up anxiety, which sucks, because then we learn to avoid living our lives. So now that we’ve acknowledged that it blows, the good news is that it doesn’t have to control you, and panic attacks don’t have to be a regular part of your life. I will teach you what anxiety is, why it happens, and what we can do about it. Together, we can figure out what situations make you anxious, what it feels like for you, and which tools work best for you to manage it.</image:caption>

<image:title>Specialties - Self-Esteem & Self-Worth.</image:title>
<image:caption>The voice telling you you’re “not good enough” just won’t STFU. You might be a perfectionist, or you feel super stuck because you’re terrified of failing. You might overwork yourself, frantically trying to meet or exceed expectations of yourself and others. Or, you might find it pointless to even try because the expectations are so high, they always feel out of reach. No matter which strategy you use, you’re very, very hard on yourself… the voice in your head can be a real a-hole. This makes you feel bad, of course it does. I’d love to help you change this. You’ll learn about the difference between self-worth and self-esteem. We will do some deep diving here, get really curious about where this started by talking about your upbringing and experiences. I’ll give you the key to quieting the inner critic, and help you practice with it. You’ll get to learn a lot about yourself, and I cannot wait to learn with you.</image:caption>
